INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2023 THEME AND INDIAN CULTURE

The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated across the world annually on June 21. 🧘🏻‍♂️🧘🏻‍♀️Yoga helps in reducing stress, 😣 anxiety, 😖 depression, 😐 fear 🤯 and many other health ailments. 🤢

The Theme of International Yoga Day 2023 is 'Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'.

Origin:
An invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition, 🇮🇳 Yoga has emerged as one of the most trusted means to boost physical and mental well-being😇 Maharshi Patanjali, a great sage👳‍♂️, was the Father of Yoga.

*Meaning:* 
The word "Yoga" is derived from the Sanskrit root *_YUJ_* meaning "to join", "to yoke" or "to unite", *symbolising the unity of mind and body* thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between human and nature and a holistic approach to health and well-being. 

According to the Yoga Sutras, there are *eight components or Ashtangas* (Eight Limbs) of yoga. Being a human, it is important to understand these eight Angas: *Yama, Niyam, Asana, Pranayam, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.* 

*Concerned Ministry:* 
The *Ministry of AYUSH* is the responsible authority to make necessary arrangements for observing the Yoga day in India.
 
*Importance:* 
International Yoga Day has become a global phenomenon and practices, it is now celebrated in over 190 countries. In larger perspective, It has also became a tool for soft power diplomacy among Indian diaspora in the world. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Today, let's take a moment to reflect 😇 on the beauty of thousands of year old customs/ rituals that help mental health, modern community medicine and Indian diplomacy simultaneously.
