Introduction

As you all are aware, for the first time India is conducting Common Eligibility Test (CET) for SSC, railway and banking. But if you also wonder what this exam really is and how it is better for us, you have reached correct purport.

In this blog, we will discuss:

What is NRA?

NRA stands for National Recruitment Agency. It is an educational body which is responsible for conducting CET across the country.

What is CET?

CET is a screening test for three organizations  which consists of SSC, Railway and Banking. It means that now students need not to give pre stage of these exams separately but they all need to give is CET whose marks will be considered while checking cut-off for various post and departments. Still not clear, let's take an example.
Suppose that that you scored 140 marks out of 200 in CET exam. If 130, 150 and 160 are the cut-off of SSC, Railway and Banking respectively, then you can appear for the next tier (or stage) of SSC only because you are still 10 and 20 marks behind to qualify for Railway and Banking.

Syllabus of CET

Since the exam is to be conducted for the first time, there is a little confusion about the syllabus of CET exam. But most probably, it will include four sections:-
  1. Reasoning
  2. General Awareness
  3. Quantitative Aptitude
  4. Language

You can also refer to the topics included in the above subject here

All the questions will be objective type and the total number questions are predicted to be 100.

  • The number of students appearing in the subsequent stages of SSC, railway and banking separately is expected to reduce by 5%.
  • It will be conducted at all three levels i.e. 10, 12 and graduation level and the marks will be valid accordingly.

Challenges to CET

  • The number of students appearing for this exam will be quite large
  • Since the vacancy in these jobs do not come frequently, more students will appear for the next stages (mains) on the basis of marks they scored in the previous three year
